Credits

Island is built on open data, open typefaces and photographs that their makers chose to share. Here is every source, its licence and the credit it asks for.

The lists below are produced from the same records the site is built from, so a new dataset, photo or typeface appears here as soon as it’s used. For how the data becomes scores, see How we research.

Data

Each dataset was fetched by our build scripts and turned into the charts and scores. The credit line is the attribution its licence asks for.

Other sources

Typefaces

Both typefaces are open source, self-hosted and used under their licences.

Photographs

There are 127 photographs of 26 islands, all from Wikimedia Commons. Each one’s location was checked against its description, categories or camera position before we used it. Photos are resized, and some are cropped, to fit the page.
